Links House

With breathtaking views across the 1st tee at Royal Dornoch and a 5 star hotel with exquisite attention to detail, Links House have plenty to shout about. They needed a platform to do just that.

Highland experience

Our aim with the new site was to create an experience that told the history of Links House, to show the beauty and grandeur, whilst maintaining a consistent brand presence. Coupled with a seamless customer journey and easy to navigate booking experience.

The current Links House audience did not previously book online and so there was a learning curve for the viewers as well. With this in mind we simplified every process with clear instructions and visual cues to make booking as easy as possible.

Digital Typography

As part of the design process we looked at how typography used in the print designs could be translated across the site. We used the beautiful Calendas from Atipo. It’s flourishes and ligatures captured the elegant details and traditional finishes that can be found throughout the hotel. A key element in the look and feel it was important to bring these elements online.

Content is King

One of our key aspirations for the Links House site was to lead with a strong mobile and tablet experience. With focus on displaying the content in a visual way we utilised the beautiful image library to enhance the user experience and create clear calls to action across the site.

We also developed a watercolour illustration style which echoed the artworks throughout the hotel, with each room being named after fishing rivers in the area. These added an additional splash of colour and life to the content.

The client was keen to have video as the hero to truly showcase the location and hotels ethos. Giving the staff pride of place, the people who make the hotel what it is.

This project started back in the summer with a fantastic train journey up to the Highlands and ended in the Autumn with a stunning new website for the client. With the whole studio involved it was important that everyone clearly knew their role within the project and that the correct information was passed on to the relevant person at each stage of the project. This resulted in a smooth process and a complex website delivered on time.
