Fresh as a Daisy https://www.theshineagency.com/blog/fresh-as-a-daisy/ Wed, 24 Feb 2016 13:08:21 +0000 http://www.theshineagency.com/?p=2209 Spring is in the air…

The perfect time for ‘Spring cleaning’ your social media? Everyone stresses the importance of keeping your social media platforms up to date and continually adding new content. However, so many brands let their Pinterest slip.

Not only should we be continually adding new ‘Pins’ to our boards, it’s also important to remember to update the cover photos and change the order of the boards. At different times of the year, people will be searching for different things. For example, as Autumn approaches, people may be looking for crisp Autumn leaves and cosy looking images. While in the Springtime, people are beginning to think more about ideas to decorate and freshen their home for Spring.

It’s important to be reactional to the season, yet proactive to be ahead of the trend. We’ve just had a bit of a ‘Spring clean’ of our Pinterest, updating the cover images to keep it looking fresh, but also to coincide with the new season. Have a look here.

In fact, as we see snowdrops and daffodils start to appear in gardens and shops, the thought of Spring and Easter are great cause for excitement. Our marketer, Jennifer, even has some fresh tulips on her desk!

Naturally, pictures of daffodils, tulips, daisies and snowdrops are starting to ‘Spring’ up on Pinterest. Why? Because people are searching for them!

What better time to start our ‘Fresh as a Daisy’ Pinterest board. A little board of images to brighten every day and help you get excited about the new seasons to come – of course, there’s a fair bit of yellow in there too!!

Ready to be inspired and put a ‘Spring’ in your step? Have a look at our new board here and feel free to give us a follow.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road https://www.theshineagency.com/blog/follow-the-yellow-brick-road/ Thu, 26 Nov 2015 16:51:48 +0000 http://www.theshineagency.com/?p=2074 As SHINE has been growing so much recently, we found it had become a bit of a tight squeeze around our meeting table for the weekly SHINE Huddle. The time had come for our table to expand with us! While we were at it, what better time to shine-ify the whole studio just a little bit more…
Remember the “1000-piece impossible colour jigsaw“? Well, we wanted to put it to good use and decided to frame it above the TV in the studio. We couldn’t break it up after all that hard work!

In Craig’s office, where we have all the “big people” meetings, Martyn came up with this rather clever idea to turn the room into a giant computer. We now have digital wallpaper in the form of a Photoshop desktop, and a keyboard themed table. All we need now is an oversized yellow mouse!

So far, the table has gone down really well with clients. There have been tweets, there have been comments and there has been a mutual understanding by all, for how wonderful this table is. There are a few jokes hidden in the keyboard, so you will need to pop in to see it face-to-face and spot them all.

(Added incentive: we always have biscuits and good coffee!! … We also design stuff…)

Finally, we also gave the entrance to the SHINE plaza a bit of a spruce up. There has never been enough yellow before, but now you can be in no doubt that you are in the right place.

Our yellow lego road is going to come in very handy when we have visitors. Before, we would just say “we’re on the top floor”, but now we will just say, “Follow the yellow brick road…”
Thanks to the guys at Eastern for doing such a great job!

International Day of SHINE https://www.theshineagency.com/blog/international-day-of-shine/ Mon, 03 Aug 2015 12:19:12 +0000 http://www.theshineagency.com/?p=1779 What does the future hold for SHINE?

On Friday 31st July, we had our ‘International Day of SHINE’ (more affectionately known as iDOS). The objective for the day and the ‘Future Planning Committee’ was for all members of the SHINY team to come together and discuss how we go about business and give ideas on how to improve for the future.
So we decided this exciting event should really be held in the creative environment of a CitizenM meeting room, to allow the creative juices to flow and some wonderful ideas to surface.
CitizenM Room
We met early in the morning for a delicious breakfast of bacon rolls and croissants – a nice healthy way to start the day and get our minds working…

Throughout the day, we were discussing some very thought-provoking and important questions, such as where do we see the business in 5 years? Do we have enough chocolate biscuits to last us until then? Is there enough yellow in the world? (the answer is always no, but we were delighted to see there was plenty of yellow dotted around CitizenM, such as this amazing book below).

We got to write down our ideas on some fancy CitizenM yellow paper using our fancy SHINE yellow pencils…

And we came up with some ideas on how SHINE can improve for the future. A successful day was had by all. But now we are left with the most important and difficult decision still to make: Should we get a chair like this for the studio? (of course it would need to be yellow…)
