What made you want to get into coding?

Back in the day I really wanted to be a game developer and make my own games. At some point I found a website that helped me learn HTML (this was back in IE6 days) then I started building World of Warcraft fan sites and along the way, I noticed I had more fun building websites rather than making a game.

What skills/attributes make a good coder?

  1. Being passionate
  2. Attention to detail
  3. Patience

What has been your biggest project/achievement at Shine?

My biggest achievement at Shine has been helping all the charities that Shine has worked with to help them create a bespoke website that helps meets their needs and requirements. Recently we went to the event for Visibility Scotland that showcased the new brand and the website and seeing first-hand people interact with something you’ve helped create is an amazing feeling.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about going into coding?

I would say that if you’re looking or considering getting into coding I’d say go for it! The best thing about coding is that you will learn something new every day and no two days are ever the same. Using code to bring thoughts and ideas to life is an amazing experience and if you’re going down the formal education route or even if you’re teaching yourself give it everything you got and it will work out for you.
